- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent professional qualification as recognised by Engineers Ireland or other professional recognised body;
- Chartered - Preferably;
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the supervision of large civil engineering projects with experience working in rail sector safety environment;
- Experience in the management of site supervisory staff;
- Ability to undertake design review and supervision work;
- Knowledge and experience of the NRA DMRB and NRA MCD Specification for Road Works, Eurocodes and bridge design details;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to integrate into the existing engineering team, and work alongside colleagues of other disciplines;
- Demonstrable report writing, analytical and computer skills;
- Hold a valid safepass card;
- Hold a valid Irish/EU/UK driving licence.
- Check and audit the activities of the Contractor and its sub-contractors in their delivery of the project against the requirements of the contract;
- Check the workmanship and quality of the construction activities;
- Liaise with local authorities, statutory authorities, land-owners and other parties as required to support the delivery of the project;
- Deal with the various certification functions required under the contract, assisting with the certification process, including close liaison with the technical team;
- Assist in the preparation of monthly reports to the Client detailing progress, problems, issues, quality reporting - these are to be submitted within five working days of the end of each calendar month to which they refer and the format of the report to be agreed with the Authority;
- Seek to promote safety on site at all times, and have a working knowledge of health and safety legislation;
- Job will require undertaking night shifts for selected periods;
- Attend monthly meetings with the Client and other ad hoc meetings as required;
- Assist the Client to fulfil its Legal obligations;
- Assist in drafting any variations that may be required during the construction stage of the project, and review and prepare reports on any variations proposed by the Contractor;
- Keep detailed contemporaneous records relating to the actual progress of the works including photographs and resources employed by the Contractor, as required in order to assist in any dispute resolution processes;
- Monitor and review the Programme prepared by the Contractor, including all amended or varied versions;
