Senior Building Services Engineer – Modular Data Centre SolutionsSilent Aire - DublinWhat you will doWorking within the Modular Design Engineering Team, the Senior Building Services Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership, design delivery, and operational definition of building services systems within Silent-Aire’s Modular Data Centre (MDC) solutions. The role covers the full lifecycle of modular projects—from concept design and system architecture through detailed design, factory manufacture, testing, and site integration. A key accountability of the role is the development and ownership of Descriptions of Operation (DoO), ensuring engineering intent is translated into robust, testable, and operable modular systems.How you will do itBuilding Services & Modular Design
  • Lead mechanical and electrical building services design for modular data centre units.
  • Develop designs from concept through detailed design supporting off-site manufacture. Ensure compliance with performance, redundancy, and energy efficiency requirements.
  • Produce and review calculations, schematics, layouts, and technical specifications.
Descriptions of Operation (DoO) & Control Narratives
  • Author and maintain Descriptions of Operation (DoO) for modular data centre systems. Define system intent, sequences of operation, interlocks, and failure responses.
  • Align DoO documentation with P&IDs, BMS points lists, I/O schedules, and testing scripts.
  • Act as technical authority for operational narratives.
Project Delivery & Coordination
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including BIM, controls, manufacturing, and commissioning.
  • Interface with clients, consultants, and vendors during design reviews.
  • Support factory testing and site integration activities.
What we look for
  • Degree in Building Services Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in MEP design for mission-critical or data centre environments.
  • Experience working with modular or off-site manufactured systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical expertise in building services for mission-critical facilities.
  • Proven experience authoring Descriptions of Operation and control narratives.
  • Ability to translate design intent into clear operational documentation.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and technical leadership skills.
