ResponsibilitiesProvide a specialist nursing service across the continuum of care for orthopaedic and spinal patients, including scoliosis correction, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based clinical practice.Demonstrate advanced specialist knowledge and skills in orthopaedic and spinal nursing, including medication review and management, requesting appropriate diagnostic investigations, and evaluating treatment outcomes within scope of practice.Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary perioperative team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate individualised patient care, representing and advocating for patients and families in decision-making.Promote patient and family education by supporting self-management, providing guidance on medication, coping strategies, lifestyle modification (including smoking cessation), and available support services.Lead and contribute to clinical governance initiatives including audit, quality improvement, policy development, and service evaluation, implementing changes in response to patient needs and service demands.Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation using both manual and electronic systems, ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, preceptorship, and education to nursing and healthcare staff, fostering a culture of learning, clinical inquiry, and professional growth within the clinical environment.Contribute to staff induction, bedside teaching, case conferences, and multidisciplinary education initiatives, establishing an optimal learning environment within the service.Engage in ongoing professional development, research, audit, and quality initiatives while networking with CNS colleagues and the wider professional community to maintain awareness of current advances in treatment and care.Uphold organisational policies, infection prevention and control standards, and professional expectations, demonstrating flexibility, accountability, and leadership in clinical practice.RequirementsMust be registered on the Live Register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).A minimum of three years’ post-registration experience, including at least two years in orthopaedics and spinal nursing, is required.Possess strong leadership qualities including vision, innovation, flexibility, and effective communication and management skills.Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.Educated to Higher Diploma level or above in a relevant specialty; candidates without this qualification must commit to undertaking and completing an appropriate Higher Diploma.Demonstrate competence in working independently and exercising professional judgement.Adhere strictly to the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives and demonstrate full knowledge of the Domains of Competence as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).Possess competent computer and documentation skills.BenefitsCompetitive salaryOnsite parkingPension schemeAnnual bonus*Discounted caféSports and Social ClubEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP)Discounted onsite pharmacy
