Ability West provides a wide range of high-quality services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Galway City and County. Services provided are day, residential, short breaks, community supports, rehabilitative training and multi-disciplinary supports. Each person is supported and valued within an environment which promotes their overall autonomy, health and wellbeing and enables them to reach their potential.Role:We are looking for a qualified nurse who will be flexible and adapt to the needs of the individuals we support. Open to change and aims to provide a safe, secure environment where individuals will participate in community and leisure activities, make choices and enjoy a lifestyle that fulfils their potential and expectations with the opportunity for new experiences.If successful you will be required to work in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy, participate in person-centred planning, individual reviews, team meetings, attend and participate in training courses, and actively contribute to team based performance management.Essential Criteria:
  • Possession of a nursing or recognised nursing qualification e.g. R.N.I.D., R.G.N, S.R.N., R.P.N., including current registration with An Bord Altranais agus Cnaimhseachais na hÉireann.
  • Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability.
  • Full current driving license with access to your own vehicle is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Flexibility and the capacity to embrace change in response to the identified needs of people we support.
