- Proficiency in conducting Site Surveying and Setting Out.
- Deliver health and safety training to staff, encompassing manual handling, toolbox talks, and safety induction.
- Demonstrate prior experience in conducting safety inspections and audits.
- Promote accident prevention and environmental protection positively, initiating and sustaining effective measures to enhance safety, health, and environmental standards and awareness.
- Assist in compiling reports on incidents and furnish management with statistical information.
- Enforce the company's health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Aid in maintaining Health & Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to facilitate improvement in all related areas.
- Support management in crafting H&S procedures, policies, and programs.
- Collaborate within the HSQE team to ensure a secure and efficient work environment.
- Strive for practical enhancements in Health & Safety standards within the company’s management system and on specific sites.
- Monitor and ensure implementation of the Health & Safety Management System.
- Identify and address site-specific hazards in site documentation and on-site pragmatically.
- Maintain clear communication channels with the H&S Manager.
- Oversee the upkeep of site folders and statutory records.
- Enforce strict adherence to site regulations by all personnel.
- Aid site management in meeting statutory H&S requirements.
- Assist Health & Safety Manager in developing and enhancing Risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- Coordinate safe work systems with H&S Manager and Site management.
- Perform on-site H&S audits and rectify non-conformities in conjunction with site management and contractors.
- Contribute to accident and incident investigations.
- Identify training needs for GMC personnel and contractors on-site.
- Undertake ad hoc tasks as required by the wider business.
- Possession of a full clean driver's license is essential.
- A tertiary qualification in Health and Safety is preferable.
- Experience in Civils, drainage, or utilities (water & electricity) is advantageous.
- Self-assured, driven, and capable of both independent and collaborative work.
- Ability to perform under pressure within strict deadlines.
- Proficient time management skills to achieve targets.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy.
- Skilled in relationship-building, leveraging key connections across project stakeholders and statutory bodies.
- Ability to manage risks and implement control measures.
- Capable of working alongside and building strong relationships with contractors from diverse backgrounds and trades.
