The Grant Writer will act as the central coordination point for RD&I grant activity within the Innovation Centre Cork, ensuring compelling, compliant, and timely submissions aligned to Stryker priorities and funding agency requirements.Key Responsibilities1. RD&I Grant Development
- Lead end-to-end development of RD&I grant applications, including concept framing, narrative development, technical content integration, budgeting, and submission.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—R&D, Clinical, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Marketing—to capture accurate and compelling technical inputs, aligned with Stryker’s strategic objectives.
- Translate complex scientific and engineering concepts into clear, persuasive, and compliant proposal text.
- Ensure all proposals meet funder requirements, evaluation criteria, and formatting guidelines.
- Identify other relevant national and EU funding opportunities (e.g., Enterprise Ireland, IDA, Horizon Europe) aligned with RD&I roadmaps.
- Coordinate internal contributors, timelines, and approval processes to ensure on-time delivery.
- Work closely with Finance to ensure budget accuracy, justification, and alignment with funding rules, drawing on past project documentation such as the IDA RD&I Project Status Reports.
- Exceptional scientific and technical writing ability.
- Ability to craft structured, persuasive narratives aligned to reviewer expectations.
- Strong analytical and research skills to synthesize data, scientific evidence, and technical content.
- Budget creation and financial justification literacy.
- Understanding of IP protection, regulatory pathways, and commercialization strategies (advantageous).
- Strong project leadership, able to manage multi-stakeholder inputs and tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with engineers, scientists, clinicians, and business leaders.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Self-directed, proactive, and resourceful.
- Creative and strategic thinker who can spot white-space opportunities.
- Resilient and comfortable working under deadline pressure.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Life Sciences, Engineering, Health Sciences, Public Policy, Business or similar).
- Minimum 6+ years professional grant writing experience, with a proven record of successful grant awards or similar.
- Demonstrated experience preparing grant applications for scientific, engineering, medical device, or healthcare innovation programs.
- Strong understanding of national and EU funding landscapes is beneficial
- Master’s or PhD in a scientific, technical, or health-related discipline.
- Experience in a regulated industry (medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech), with familiarity in design control, risk management, and quality systems.
- Experience supporting large interdisciplinary research or innovation initiatives.
