- Act as a key holder, responsible for opening and closing the store
- Manage the checkout department efficiently
- Step in as the duty manager when in charge
- Overseeing the daily operations of the checkout area.
- Managing checkout staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
- Ensuring efficient and accurate cashiering procedures.
- Handling customer inquiries, complaints, and escalations.
- Monitoring and maintaining adequate checkout supplies, such as bags, receipt paper, and cash.
- Implementing and enforcing store policies and procedures related to checkout operations.
- Conducting regular cash audits and reconciliations.
- Assisting with cash handling, including opening and closing registers.
- Collaborating with other store departments to ensure smooth workflow and customer service.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing changes as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols, including loss prevention measures.
- Providing leadership and support to checkout staff to promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
- Previous experience in a retail or customer service role
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures and basic accounting principles
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
