Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established main contractor delivering high-quality building projects across Ireland.The role will be primarily project-based in South Dublin, with flexibility around working location. Typically, the successful candidate will spend approximately three days per week working from site offices or client offices, with the remaining time split between the Carlow head office or remote working, depending on project requirements and personal preference.Current projects include the final stages of a healthcare project (D22) with around four months remaining, a new school development in D4 commencing late Q1 with an approximate one-year programme, and a further pharmaceutical in South Dublin which is due to commence later this year.This is a senior QS position offering strong autonomy, direct client engagement, and involvement in multiple high-profile projects. - Manage commercial delivery across multiple live construction projects
- Control project costs, forecasting, and commercial reporting
- Prepare valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Lead subcontractor procurement and commercial negotiations
- Monitor budgets, cashflow, and financial performance
- Provide contractual and commercial support to project teams
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and consultants
- Manage subcontractor accounts and payment processes
- Support commercial risk management and strategy
- Mentor and support junior quantity surveying staff
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related construction discipline
- 7+ years’ experience within a main contractor environment in Ireland, ideally tier 1 or tier 2.
- Strong background across Irish or UK building projects
- Proven ability managing multiple projects concurrently
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills
- Experience supporting or managing junior QS staff
- Full Irish driving licence required
- Irish or UK experience required
