- Assist the DON in leading and supervising the delivery of person-centred, evidence-based nursing care.
- Monitor and evaluate clinical practices to ensure they meet current HIQA standards and national health policies.
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Oversee infection prevention and control measures in line with updated HIQA guidance
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant legislation and HIQA regulations, including the Health Act 2007 (Care and Welfare of Residents in Designated Centres for Older People) Regulations 2013 (as amended).
- Assist in preparing for, responding to, and following up on HIQA inspections and audits.
- Maintain and update required documentation, including risk registers, incident logs, care plans, and audit results.
- Supervise, mentor, and support nursing and care staff, promoting continuous professional development.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, rostering, and performance appraisals.
- Facilitate regular team meetings, clinical supervision, and reflective practice sessions.
- Promote dignity, autonomy, and choice for all residents in a safe, inclusive environment.
- Act as a key point of contact for residents and families, handling concerns or complaints professionally and in line with policy.
- Assist the DON in strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and policy development.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and the development of the annual Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
- Deputise for the DON as required.
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) - active registration required.
- Minimum of 3 years' post-registration experience in nursing management /nursing home or similar aged care setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIQA Standards, the National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland, and relevant legislation.
- Leadership training and/or a management qualification (e.g., QQI Level 6 in Management) is desirable.
- Postgraduate qualification in nursing leadership.
