This role leverages both clinical laboratory workflow expertise and health IT skills to ensure effective integration and smooth operation between laboratory information management systems and electronic health record (EHR/EMR) platforms.Expertise with lab information management systems, preferably Clinisys/Sunquest set up, support and maintenance, is at the core of this role.Solid candidates will be able to demonstrate self-motivation and team collaboration. Following this, local hours would be standard with a need for some flexibility when working with US clients.Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.Primary Responsibilities:
  • LIS/EHR System Management - maintain and support the LIMS and its integration with the EHR through ongoing monitoring of system performance
  • Analyse application issues, identifying root causes, and recommending appropriate solutions
  • Work alongside end-users to design, scope, and implement system enhancements
  • Configure system settings to resolve issues efficiently, adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Develop, maintain, and support critical workflow documentation, test scripts, and configuration guides for essential application functions
  • Develop solid relationships with operational stakeholders, customers and business partners
  • Collaborate with clinical and technical teams to maintain end-to-end clinical integrity across workflows
  • Work independently, taking initiative and managing tasks with minimal supervision, while also collaborating effectively within a team

  • Proven experience supporting Lab Information System platforms, preferably Clinisys/Sunquest, in enterprise healthcare environments
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of lab workflows, integrations and downstream dependencies
  • Proven experience supporting system data flows or integrations between LIS and downstream systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in incident triage, break-fix resolution, and vendor coordination
  • Proven experience acting as an application subject matter expert (SME) and supporting upgrades, patches and system changes
  • Demonstrated familiarity with ITSM and change management practices, including stabilization and user readiness
  • Demonstrated solid communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders such as clinicians, operational leaders, IT teams, and/or external vendors

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in healthcare, Clinical, Hospital Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field
  • Proven previous experience working with lab information systems, healthcare information systems and / or electronic health record (EHR) platforms
  • Proven experience with application support or issue resolution, including root cause analysis, ticket management, and collaboration with vendors or internal IT teams
