
Maintenance Technician - County Kildare

- On a day-to-day basis, as Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for responding to machine breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance on assets and maintaining the factory in good working order.
- You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality maintenance service to production. Ensure that production equipment operates efficiently, safely and in line with the maintenance strategy.
- Responsible for carrying out planned work assigned by management and proactive tasks that increase throughput, yield and reduce waste.
- Carry out the execution of the Preventive Maintenance and Condition Based program.
- Provide maintenance support, entering data into CMMS system, updating equipment records, and participating in continuous improvement follow up.
- Having a cost control consciousness.
- Electrical and Mechanical trouble-shooting.
- Electromechanical repairs to high-speed PLC-controlled plant, handling and packaging equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic components and control systems.
- Performance of PM routines.
- Support Production Team in achieving targets.
- Closely monitor line and machine performance and intervene on line as soon as any deterioration in occurs.
- To be observant & work off own initiative when a fault is detected & to take action based on your best judgment on whether to effect immediate repair or not.
- As part of the technical Maintenance team, work with equipment suppliers on new equipment and installations and modifications.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to shift technicians.
- Co-operate and participate fully in training and development in cross-skilling and other job-related competencies.
- Responsible for completion of your planned work, inputting data into the CMMS system.
- Ensure Maintenance Manager is aware of any problems, and adhering to escalation policy.
- Observing all on-site and legislative rules and regulations in terms of Health and Safety.
- Using all resources such as manuals, service contracts etc. to aid in breakdown recovery.
- Ensure all parts are ordered by the end of shift.
- Ensure that all relevant information is passed to both the maintenance manager/supervisor and the next shift.
- Maintain workshops to a high standard.
- Follow all up to date stores and parts procedures.
- Assist with ensuring apprentices receive appropriate training relative to their trade.
- Recording of all damage to equipment and reporting to department.
- Control of contractors and acting as Liaison Person as and when required.
- Relevant trades qualification - electrician or fitter
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role in a manufacturing environment
- Possess mechanical and electrical maintenance experience and/or qualifications.
- Excellent awareness and experience in relation to Quality, Health and Safety.
- Be familiar with planned preventative maintenance.
- Experienced in fault finding and problem solving.
- Comprehensive knowledge of high-speed mechanical systems, electrical systems, automation and PLC control systems.
- Knowledge and experience in maintenance organisation and systems.
- Good PC Skills required to input data onto CMMS (computerised maintenance management system).
