- Lead and manage multidisciplinary design teams to ensure successful project delivery within set targets for schedule, budget, and quality.
- Supervise project managers, ensuring projects meet their goals.
- Make strategic decisions on resource allocation and project prioritization.
- Oversee financial aspects of design costs.
- Coordinate and prepare bid submissions, focusing on financial and quality components.
- Manage projects from initial client contact through bidding, design, construction, and handover.
- Work with the Project Director to set and achieve project objectives.
- Identify and address potential contractual and commercial risks promptly.
- Define team objectives, delegate tasks, and manage risk with the Project Director.
- Monitor project performance, implement necessary actions to meet targets, and manage change control processes.
- Serve as the main contact between the design team and clients, contract administrators, and contractors.
- Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed and approve information before release.
- Lead, motivate, and develop the project team, ensuring effective communication and necessary training.
- Facilitate communication and information flow with clients and the project team.
- Establish and manage commercial arrangements, resource levels, and provide regular project updates.
- Protect commercial interests by ensuring timely invoicing and effective cash flow management.
- Close projects efficiently, archive documentation, and capture lessons learned.
- Chartered Engineer/Architect or equivalent qualification.
- Experience managing large infrastructure project design commissions.
- Proven experience in a design consultancy managing design teams.
- Strong client-facing skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, demonstrating strong leadership qualities.
- Knowledge of various construction contracts, especially NEC3.
- Experience in preparing project management documents like Scope Definition papers and Project Execution Plans.
- Proficient in managing projects to meet time, cost, and quality goals.
- Familiarity with BIM and CDE for design and coordination.
- High performance standards and a client-focused approach.
- Ability to mentor less experienced team members.
- Adaptability to diverse cultures and work environments.
