A leading cork based multi-site retailer and award winning employer is hiring a Health & Safety Manager to build and lead their health and safety function.This is a key role reporting directly to the Managing Director. You will shape the company’s health and safety strategy, embed best practice across multiple locations, and build a strong, practical safety culture across the business.What You’ll Do:
  • Develop and implement a Group Health & Safety strategy aligned with ISO 45001
  • Create and maintain policies, procedures, and safe systems of work
  • Act as the internal expert on health, safety, and compliance
  • Carry out risk assessments and ensure legal compliance across all sites
  • Lead site-specific safety initiatives across locations in Cork and Leinster locations
  • Deliver training and safety awareness programmes
  • Improve site safety in areas such as traffic management, storage, and pedestrian movement
  • Conduct inspections and audits, ensuring corrective actions are completed
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, implementing preventative measures
  • Maintain H&S documentation including policies, procedures, and risk registers
  • Liaise with auditors, insurers, and regulatory bodies
  • Engage with teams at all levels to build a proactive safety culture
What You’ll Need:Essential
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Health & Safety role
  • Background in distribution, logistics, warehousing, retail operations, or manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001 and H&S auditing
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Relevant H&S qualification (Higher Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, IOSH, or similar)
  • Experience building or significantly improving a health and safety function
  • Strong understanding of Irish H&S legislation and best practice
  • Experience delivering training and safety inductions
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and reporting systems
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel between sites
Desirable
  • Experience with transport safety and vehicle/pedestrian segregation
  • Warehousing or operational retail environment experience
  • First Aid, Fire Safety, or Manual Handling Instructor certification
