Job Description and RequirementsSynopsys is looking for an employment counsel to support HR in Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA). The position is based in our offices in Dublin, Ireland, and will advise on matters across 18+ jurisdictions, with a focus on approximately nine.ResponsibilitiesThe employment counsel will be part of a highly sophisticated worldwide legal department and a key partner to the senior employment counsel for EMEA. This person will be part of a team that advises on a broad scope of legal issues related to EMEA employment, including recruiting, hiring, the contingent workforce, internal investigations, discrimination and harassment, compensation, employee mobility, employment agreements, leaves of absence, performance management, working time, holiday pay, Works Councils, mergers and acquisitions, terminations and redundancies. The employment counsel will advise on employee relations matters and assist with employment litigation, such as witness interviews and document review. They will also be responsible for updating and training HR and management on EMEA legal developments and may contribute to employment law projects in other regions.A critical component of the employment counsel's position will be to liaise with and manage outside counsel. The EMEA Employment Law Team in which the employment counsel holds a key role also collaborates with Ethics & Compliance colleagues on compliance initiatives such as the Code of Ethics and whistleblowing, as well as with the Chief Data Privacy Officer.Occasional travel to Synopsys sites mostly within EMEA and once annually to Synopsys' Headquarters in the U.S. (California) is expected.RequirementsWe are looking for:
  • an attorney in good standing, licensed to practice in at least one EMEA jurisdiction
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • English proficiency (speaking and writing)
  • an ability to collaborate with colleagues and take a business-oriented approach while identifying and balancing legal risks
  • exceptional analytical skills, a desire to learn, and an ability to take on and prioritize a wide variety of matters
