- Ensure all staff contribute to the efficient running of the Nursing Home and maintain an atmosphere that promotes residents’ dignity, independence, and best interests.
- Interact with residents to ensure their health, comfort, and care needs are met, reporting any concerns or illness promptly and arranging GP or professional visits as required while liaising closely with District Nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Administer prescribed medications accurately, maintain records in line with NMBI and company standards, and perform general nursing and personal care duties as appropriate. Ensure meals are nutritious, of good quality, and suited to residents’ individual dietary requirements.
- Support the Home Manager in maintaining and auditing care plans to ensure best practice and compliance with standards. Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all dealings with residents’ personal and financial affairs, upholding respect and trust at all times.
- Maintain effective communication with the Home Manager, residents, relatives, staff, and healthcare professionals, ensuring accurate handovers and participation in meetings as required.
- Assist in managing and monitoring budgets, ensuring resources and commodities are used efficiently and responsibly.
- Support HR functions including recruitment, scheduling, attendance management, staff supervision, and adherence to HR policies and procedures, especially in the absence of the Home Manager.
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff, support the Home Manager in operational duties, and liaise with the Director of Nursing to provide on-call cover for holidays and alternate weekends.
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Previous management or supervisory experience.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively at all levels and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Genuine interest in working with the elderly and commitment to providing high-quality care.
- Certification of clearance from the Garda Vetting Unit. Experience or qualification in care for the elderly is essential.
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ management or supervisory experience.
