We are recruiting for an Assistant Behaviour Therapist -Positive Behaviour Support TeamAbility West provides a wide range of high-quality services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Galway City and County. Services provided are day, residential, short breaks, community supports, rehabilitative training and multi-disciplinary supports. Each person is supported and valued within an environment which promotes their overall autonomy, health and wellbeing and enables them to reach their potential.Support adults with complex support needs to maximise their quality of life and reduce behavioural challenges, via consistent implementation of support plans. Complete day-to-day support tasks for people accessing Ability West services, including support with activities of daily living and personal care. Implement all support plans as described, including Behaviour Support Plans and Mental Health Support Plans. Support frontline colleagues in their implementation of plans, providing on-the-job coaching as appropriate and/or advising the Service Manager (PIC) that additional staff training is required. Foster positive working relationships with people we support, staff teams and families/carers.You will receive Clinical Supervision from the Positive Support Team and this role is ideal for a candidate seeking to accrue hours towards their Irish Society for Behaviour Analysis or Division of Behaviour Analysis membership.Requirements:Formal Education/Training and/or Work Experience:
  • Third-level training at under-graduate or post-graduate level in behaviour analysis, psychology, nursing, or a related field, and
  • A minimum of 2 years demonstrable work experience, effectively supporting people with significant behaviour support needs.
OR
  • A minimum of 5 years demonstrable work experience, effectively supporting people with significant behaviour support needs (without additional third-level training).
AND· Experience of implementing MDT guidance and recommendations, including Behaviour Support Plans.· Knowledge and experience of working within a Positive Behaviour Support model of practice.· Previous attendance at crisis prevention and management training (e.g., Studio 3).What We Are offering
