
Building Services Design Lead

- Lead the design and coordination of Building Services projects, ensuring seamless integration across all disciplines.
- Work with the Principal Design Engineer to set design standards, best practices, and processes within the design team.
- Act as a client-facing representative, managing relationships, ensuring clear communication, and developing project briefs.
- Oversee the production and management of 2D/3D BIM Models, P&IDs, AF&IDs, calculations, and equipment schedules.
- Provide leadership, technical guidance, and mentoring to engineers and technicians within the design team.
- Review and approve designs to ensure accuracy, compliance with Building Regulations, BCaR, client & project requirements, and adherence to industry standards.
- Collaborate closely with tender, bid, site, vendor, and project teams to support successful project delivery.
- Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the design group.
- Bachelor’s or Honours Degree (Level 7/8) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years’ experience in a building services or mechanical design role, including time in a senior/lead capacity.
- Experience in regulated industries such as Cleanrooms, Data centres, Healthcare Facilities etc.
- Working knowledge of BIM and design software packages such as Revit MEP, BIM 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Navisworks is an advantage.
- Proven experience leading design delivery on complex, multi-disciplinary projects, complying with Building Regulations, BCaR etc.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated success in client-facing roles.
- Ability to mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
- Strong technical expertise combined with a proactive, solutions-driven mindset.
- Membership of a professional institution such as CIBSE, ASHRAE, Engineers Ireland etc. is encouraged here in Rockwell.
