Position DescriptionESB Engineering & Major Projects (EMP) require an experienced surveyor to join Civil, Environmental and Renewable Engineering to work on an maintenance of existing assets (dams, generator set blocls, substations) and with project delivery groups within ESB including ESB Generation and Trading, ESB Networkd and Emerging Energy Technologies. Travel within Ireland will be a feature of this role and a full clean driving licence is essential. This role includes the provision of land surveyingand geospatia; services at all project stages fro feasibility to construction. The rol eincludes the surveying of these assets using various technologies (total station, drone, 3rd laser scanning etc,) management of other contractors and provision of surveying and geospatial advise through preparationod drawings and reports.The successful applicant will be part of a diverse team of professionals and will be responsible for the professional services and technical engineering input into project engineering works packages including the provision of engineering solutions appropriate for various aspects of projects. These services are provided to Clients in Ireland and overseas across the Civil, Environmental & Renewables Engineering Group.Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, drawings and reports.
  • Routine maintenance and monitoring on ESB assets.
  • Plan and conduct topographical surveys and construction set-outs.
  • Assist with coordinating and managing subcontractors.
  • Comply with departmental quality and data management procedures.
  • Provide input on surveying related activities to internal and external parties.
  • Keep up to date with industry standards and deliverables.
Experience and QualificationsEssential
  • Have relevant qualifications (Surveying, Geomatics or Engineering).
  • A minimum of 3 years' relevant industry experience possessing a strong understanding of common industry practices.
  • Be competent using the latest surveying technology (hardware and software) and have a strong knowledge of current CAD technology.
  • Possess a positive attitude to health and safety, with experience in drafting risk assessments and method statements for surveying activities.
  • Set high standards for themselves and their work output.
  • Show a high level of commitment and flexibility.
  • Full clean drivers' license.
Desirable
  • A SUA (drone) pilot license and/or demonstrated competence in the operation of drones for surveying purposes.
  • Qualifications/competency in AutoCAD 3D software.
  • Competency in Pix4D or similar professional drone mapping and photogrammetry software.
  • Competency in terrestrial laser scanning and processing of point cloud data.
  • Experience with permit to work system on construction sites.
  • Have an aptitude for learning new software applications.
  • Demonstrated competence and record as a problem solver with a positive attitude.
  • Possess superior organisational and time management skills.
  • Have Strong Leadership, excellent communication, and presentation skills.
LocationThe position will be based in ESB E&MP's Offices in Dublin or Cork but may require travel nationally in the course of general duties.ESB is committed to smart working - combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working. The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week.
