What is the Role:The Mainframe Performance and Capacity Lead is a critical role within the Enterprise Delivery organisation reporting directly to the Head of the Mainframe, Tandem and Midrange function. The role supports the effective management of the platform's multi-million cost base. This role is a crucial part of our constant drive to maximise cost savings whilst ensuring we deliver the best customer experience in terms of performance and availability of our services. Initially, the successful candidate will focus upon and have responsibility for managing the core disciplines of Service Performance and Capacity Management for the Mainframe and Tandem platforms. The role will potentially evolve and expand over time to cover the other platforms within the scope of responsibility of the function.Key accountabilities:Mainframe Performance and Capacity Role:
  • Ensure optimal day-to-day performance of all applications and services supported by the platforms.
  • Manage the capacity of the platforms to ensure optimal use of technology resources whilst maintaining contract compliance.
  • Maintain a capacity plan with accurate projection to support architectural and new product procurement decisions
  • Liaise and cooperate with all stakeholders to support avoidance or resolution of performance related service incidents.
  • On an annual basis, actively manage the environment to deliver clear customer service and financial benefits, proactively identifying and reporting potential opportunities.
  • Assess the performance of new applications to ensure they will perform optimally.
  • Maintain and communicate related KPIs and capacity plans to all stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and further develop the overall Performance/Capacity Management discipline in cooperation with the Head of the function.
What you Will Bring:
  • Excellent technology experience gained over a minimum of 10 years related career experience and with knowledge of the Mainframe and/or Tandem platforms.
  • A minimum of 5 years leading and delivering technology initiatives to improve service, system availability whilst optimising costs.
  • Strong intra-personal and collaboration skills and experience working across a range of diverse technical teams and third-party suppliers.
  • Demonstrable experience setting goals and delivering on objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparation and presentation of reports, business cases or innovation ideas to senior management.
  • Experience of cultivating Innovation and driving forward related change initiatives to conclusion.
