Job Type: Permanent / Full-timeKey Responsibilities
  • Lead, coordinate, and deliver an efficient, high-quality Orthopaedic In-Patient Physiotherapy Service in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Ensure all orthopaedic patients are assessed and treated promptly in line with departmental policies and best practice standards
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational procedures to enhance service quality and patient outcomes
  • Deliver orthopaedic education programmes including joint school, prehabilitation, and rehabilitation classes for arthroplasty patients
  • Provide cross-cover support to outpatient orthopaedic services as required
  • Supervise, mentor, and support physiotherapy staff, assistants, and students, ensuring high standards of care and professional development
  • Participate in service management, including staff induction, appraisal, training, and policy development
  • Maintain accurate records, audits, and service data to support clinical governance and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, including equipment safety, risk management, and emergency procedures
  • Promote a positive team culture through leadership, communication, ongoing education, and participation in on-call/rota requirements
Requirements
  • Degree in Physiotherapy or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • CORU registration (or eligible for registration)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ Physiotherapy experience, including significant ward-based Orthopaedic experience
  • Postgraduate qualification (courses, modules, or MSc) in Orthopaedics, MSK, or Advanced Physiotherapy Practice (desirable)
  • Experience in Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy and ICU settings (desirable)
  • Postgraduate experience in MSK outpatient services (desirable)
  • Strong clinical knowledge with the ability to apply evidence-based practice
  • Ability to plan and deliver effective, person-centred care
  • Strong organisational and time management skills in a busy environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to support, manage, and develop self and others
  • Work in line with orthopaedic competency frameworks and best practice standards
