Production Manager - West County Cork.As Production Manager you will ensure that the manufacturing process runs safely, reliably, and efficiently. The goal is to ensure that the production process delivers product of maximum quality in a profitable manner. As a leader of a team of Shift Managers and of a wider team of Production Operators, the Production Manager is, together with the Head of Production and other members of the Management Team, responsible for developing the culture and ways of working in the function.To be successful in this role as Production Manager, you must be able to bring people with you on the journey of creating a shared vision for the business and how it relates to other business functions. You also need a strategic perspective, implementing the company strategy in all areas of the manufacturing processes, together with an ongoing desire and curiosity to continuously improve the business.Purpose of the Role:The purpose of the role is to provide leadership and direction to manufacturing so that all aspects of the business function in a seamless way to deliver sustained excellent results to the business, shareholders and customers in a way that maximises the development, retention, and fulfilment of all its employees.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the team with responsibility for ensuring that the production process runs safely, reliably, and efficiently
  • Ensure the production plan is met, producing quality product for customers
  • Lead the CI journey for the department.
  • Identify losses and trends in process data.
  • Oversee ongoing delivery of Quality, Health & Safety, Finance, and Maintenance standards to meet or exceed specified metrics.
  • Create an environment that maximises team learning and synergy in responding to fast-paced, complex dilemmas and operational challenges
  • Develop Shift Managers’ technical and leadership skills
  • Develop and embed within the business an understanding of the expectations of the customer and the commercial implications of daily team decision-making.
  • Relationship Management
  • Lead by example, ensuring that a safe, open culture of high-quality teamwork and mutual support in relationships is always maintained
  • Build a culture of mutual trust and respect with and among the Shift Manager team
  • Develop Shift Managers to create a similar culture of engagement and two-way involvement with the wider team of Operators
  • Maintain a positive and constructive relationship with Commercial so that customer / market demands can continue to be managed proactively
  • Work positively with support functions to fully define and maintain a ‘win-win’ approach to relevant processes/controls/procedures/business excellence
  • Encourage greater communication to the wider site around production activities
  • Develop the ongoing direction of the production process through business excellence improvements and communicating same through all levels of the business
  • Develop the relationships with the from line team so they are an active part in any problem-solving activities.
Technical Management:
  • Understand and oversee application and integration of relevant production systems and technologies
  • Promote ongoing Continuous Improvement (CI) activities including a focus on both culture and usage of CI
  • Be experienced in Problem solving tools e.g. DMAIC and Kaizen.
  • Demonstrate commitment to ongoing implementation of engineering/production changes, trials, pilots etc. in constantly seeking to bring about improvements
  • Contribute to impending initiatives from other departments (e.g. R&D, Commercial) and embrace their requirements, as appropriate, to benefit the wider business
  • Work with Head of Production to develop annual budget and accountable for monitoring spend and savings
  • Seek to collaborate with other department initiatives aimed at delivering site-wide efficiencies or enhancements.
