- Assist and support the direct and indirect care of residents to support all activities of daily living.
- Carry out assigned and delegated responsibilities (bathing/showering, toileting etc.), assistance at mealtimes
- Respond to emergency needs when they arise and facilitate the safe removal of residents in accordance with local Emergency plans.
- Observe and report any observations, incidents or concerns regarding patient/ resident/ service users to the person in charge
- Transport/escort residents within or outside the service area as necessary or required by designated line manager or their delegate
- Assist with the appropriate storage and safe keeping of belonging
- Be responsible for the general cleaning and disinfecting of resident equipment, wheelchairs, trolleys/beds, chairs or other ward/service equipment
- Assist in the disposal of waste according to Apleona policy.
- Assist with the management of stocks and supplies.
- Assist and support end of life care providing a quiet, comfortable, dignified, compassionate caring environment
- Laundry/ironing/dusting
- Clean toilets and polish glass/brass surfaces.
- Use cleaning materials and equipment safely (per COSHH guidelines).
- Display safety signage during cleaning operations.
- Report defects and safety issues promptly.
- Maintain security awareness and report suspicious activities.
- Undertake job-related training as needed.
- During the night food prep such as peeling/washing vegetables
- Prepare the table for breakfast
- Cleaning duties associated with service and related equipment and/or furniture.
- Preparation of service area and/or service points.
- Correct storage of food items and equipment after service.
- Maintain personal hygiene, appearance, and uniform as per company regulations
- Comply and assist in the promotion and implementation of the company’s health and safety and equal opportunity policy
- Attend staff meetings, induction and mandatory in-service training courses
- As required update records in line with local policy relevant to the role assigned
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all grades of staff
- Adhere to all Health and Safety site requirements
- Report any accidents, near misses or incidents
- Any ad-hoc tasks or on occasion, annual leave cover as requested by the Site manager
- QQI Level 5 Certificate in Health Service Skills
- FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Health Service Skills or Healthcare Support
- Be currently employed as an Attendant, Multi-Task or a comparable role and be willing to undertake a QQI/FET Level 5 programme in Health Service Skills or equivalent
- Flexible approach to working hours, rostering e.g. unsocial hours/shift work, night duty, attitude to work
- Ability to work on your own as well as part of a team
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal
- Confidentiality, empathy and remaining calm under pressure
- Garda vetting required
