This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced nursing professional to lead and support the delivery of high-quality patient care within the pre-operative assessment service.The successful candidate will play a key role in clinical leadership, patient assessment, service coordination, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care within a dynamic hospital environment.
ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and direction to nursing staff in the Pre-Operative Assessment Unit while supporting the overall goals and objectives of the hospital and department.Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care by monitoring and evaluating clinical practices and patient outcomes.Support the recruitment, development, and retention of skilled nursing staff while maintaining high professional and performance standards.Promote a positive and supportive work environment by ensuring the availability of safe equipment, adequate resources, and effective team collaboration.Participate in quality improvement initiatives, risk management activities, and hospital accreditation processes to enhance service delivery.Monitor departmental resources, staffing levels, and operational activities to ensure efficient service delivery and productivity.Maintain effective communication and working relationships with multidisciplinary teams, patients, families, and external agencies.Ensure compliance with professional standards, policies, and the Scope of Nursing and Midwifery Practice Framework while supporting best clinical practices.Support staff development through training, mentorship, performance reviews, and participation in continuous professional development activities.Promote patient education, uphold professional standards, and contribute to research, audits, and service development initiatives within the unit.RequirementsRegistered General Nurse with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) licence in good standing.Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing, Peri-Anaesthesia Nursing, or Critical Care Nursing; a management qualification is desirable.Minimum five years of relevant clinical experience, including at least two years in a progressive management or leadership role.Strong leadership, teaching, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to professional development.Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating motivation and an innovative approach to service delivery.Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage staff, rostering, and service development.Demonstrated recent experience in an acute hospital setting, with up-to-date knowledge of developments in the specialised area and awareness of national nursing strategiesBenefitsFully funded private health insuranceHighly competitive salaryEmployer pension contributionsRelocation supportSubsidised parkingEducational grantsContinuous professional development opportunitiesExcellent career progression opportunitiesDiscounted healthcare for employees and their immediate family
