Role OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and technically capable Intermediate Building Services Engineer with approximately 3 years’ experience to join our growing team. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical and/or electrical building services systems across a range of projects.This role is ideal for an engineer who has developed solid technical foundations and is ready to take greater ownership of project packages while continuing to grow toward chartership or professional accreditation.Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and specification of building services systems (HVAC, public health, electrical, lighting, fire protection as applicable).
  • Produce calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines.
  • Attend design meetings and contribute technical input.
  • Support project delivery from concept through to construction stage.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and surveys as required.
  • Review contractor submissions and technical documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, codes, and sustainability standards.
  • Assist in mentoring junior engineers or graduates where appropriate.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a building services consultancy or contractor environment.
  • Experience working on commercial, residential, healthcare, education, or mixed-use projects.
  • Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, IES, Hevacomp, Dialux, or similar).
  • Good understanding of Irish building regulations and industry standards.
  • Working towards professional accreditation (e.g., CEng, IEng or equivalent) is desirable.
Technical Skills
  • HVAC load calculations and system selection (mechanical bias if applicable).
  • Electrical load calculations and distribution design (electrical bias if applicable).
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles and energy-efficient systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Basic project coordination and programme awareness.
