- The aim of this role is to work directly with young people and to work both assisting and standing in for the DM as required.
- To assist the management team in creating and maintaining a caring, safe, stable and professional environment for both the young people to live in and the staff to work in.
- To take a lead role alongside the PIC and DM in liaising with professionals re: care plans, placement plans, advocating for all residents, complaints, child protection concerns, significant events, registration and inspection, future development of the centre etc.
- Be responsible for coordinating the keywork process for young people, ensuring that this is proactive, meaningful and in line with young people’s assessed needs.
- Be responsible for certifying that young people’s right to access their information is promoted and facilitated by the staff team, within the permitted boundaries.
- To ensure that families of the young people receive quality inputs and that there is an inclusivity where permitted regarding the decisions being made about the young people.
- The TL must promote and encourage all permitted access visits for the young person with their families.
- All young people should be seen to be given equal opportunity regarding Education. The TL will be responsible for ensuring the staff team are promoting education at all times. This includes attendance, relationships with the schools, attending educational meetings on behalf of the young person and advocating for the young persons rights.
- The TL will be responsible for ensuring that a warm homely environment is created for all young people. Ensuring that the highest presentation of the centre is maintained and they will be expected to be actively involved in delegating the cleaning schedule and also ensuing the grounds are maintained at all times.
- To assist the manager and DM in overseeing the running of the centre, in accordance with the National Standards for Residential Centres and relevant legislation.
- To liaise with outside professionals at meetings and conferences to actively promote the organisation.
- To uphold confidentiality in relation to any discussions with managers regarding staff.
- To be fully aware of the centre, its purpose and function, care practises, policies and procedures, health and safety and to assist in overseeing their active implementation and regular revision.
- To be flexible to the needs of the centre at difficult times.
- To support and discuss openly with the PIC/DM: issues of best care practise and keep updated on changes and developments in the world of after care.
- Overseeing the teams therapeutic approach alongside the manager and therapeutic team and co-ordinating appointments etc.
- Attending all team meetings and recording appropriate minutes to reflect discussions.
- To ensure files in the centre are kept to inspection and registration standards and report any issues to manager.
- To act up in the absence of the PIC / DM for periods inclusive of and exceeding 1 working week.
- To participate in regular supervision with the manager allowing for support, personal and professional development.
- To provide support to the PIC / DM in her/his role whilst maintaining an open, honest and reflective relationship.
- To act as a link between the staff team and the PIC / DM, facilitating an open, honest and reflective communication flow.
- Ensure all continuous professional development is attained in every calendar year as in line with the relevant regulatory body.
- To participate in training as deemed appropriate and to consider the training needs of the team and individuals in it.
- To share the financial and accounting duties with the PIC /DM and complete monthly reports, where required.
- To undertake any other appropriate tasks requested by your PIC /DM within the competence of the post holder.
- The above Job Description is non‐exhaustive and where necessary and by appointment of the Person in Charge, Deputy Manager, Senior Service Manager or Director the TL may be expected to take up other relevant duties and tasks.
- Minimum level 7 Social Care
- Alternative Qualifications Accepted:
- Level 8 in Psychology
- Level 7 in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
- Level 7 in Counselling
- Professional qualification in: Youth and Community Work, Social Work , Social Sciences Teaching & Nursing, Addiction studies
- Candidates must have no less than 3 years’ experience working in social care with children / young persons’.
- Full Clean Drivers’ licence
