Job OverviewOur client, an Irish based life sciences company, are seeking to recruit an experienced and dynamic Senior Financial Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and lead the operational aspects of the company’s finance function. This role will involve managing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with regulations, preparing reports, and supporting the CFO with financial insights to guide decision-making.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily financial operations (AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, and general ledger) and ensure accurate transaction recording.
  • Manage SAP modules, ensuring alignment with standards, and collaborate with teams to enhance reporting and automation.
  • Develop Power BI dashboards, integrate financial data, and train teams on interpretation for data-driven decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and statutory reporting (VAT, tax filings, year-end accounts).
  • Assist CFO with budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and ad hoc analyses, while tracking budget performance and cost control.
  • Support financial modelling, cash flow management, and claims processes to optimise funding and meet obligations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, providing complete information and staying updated on tax and financial regulations.
Core Skills/ Attributes
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and transaction processing.
  • Hands-on experience in financial management within an SME environment.
  • Proficient in financial software and ERP systems, ideally SAP.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make informed decisions and solve problems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Clear, effective communicator, able to explain financial concepts to non-finance staff.
  • Strong collaborator, building relationships across teams.
  • Committed to confidentiality, professional integrity, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a financial accountant role in a Small to Medium sized business.
