Salary Scale: €61,249 – €76,158 per annum (based on a 37.5-hour week)Excel Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading Oncology Service in Waterford to recruit an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist- Medical Oncology. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking Oncology Day Unit, where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while contributing to service development and innovation.Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the day-to-day coordination of care within the Oncology Day Unit
- Deliver specialist clinical expertise in Medical Oncology, supporting complex patient pathways
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to nursing staff
- Ensure safe, effective allocation of resources and appropriate skill mix
- Promote evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes
- Support service development, audit, and KPI achievement
- Maintain clear communication with senior nursing and management teams
- Participate in and lead quality improvement and change initiatives
- Registered with NMBI (General Division) or eligible
- Postgraduate qualification in Oncology (or equivalent)
- Minimum 4 years’ oncology experience
- Proven experience in a leadership/clinical specialist capacity
- Competent in IV/oral chemotherapy administration
- Experience with CVAD care, cannulation, and venepuncture
- Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills
- IT proficiency (Microsoft Office) and awareness of clinical governance
- Management qualification (desirable)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (or willingness to undertake)
- Experience in service development, audit, or change management
- Strong clinical knowledge and professional leadership
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centred care
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrates adaptability, initiative, and a collaborative approach
- Ability to lead and influence within a multidisciplinary environment
