The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in power electronics or other relevant areas with strong product development, test and manufacturing experience, fostering innovation and guiding a team of talented engineers toward breakthrough solutions within budget and on schedule.Essential Responsibilities:Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of engineers
- Drive career development through coaching, training, and performance management

- Contribute to the conception and development of advanced electrosurgical generators and related technologies
- Explore emerging technologies in power electronics, surgical energy delivery, and high-efficiency power conversion
- Translate research insights into practical prototypes and future product concepts
- Design and analysis of systems products and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule and quality goals
- Diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and recommend/implement corrective actions to address
- Assumes responsibility for the success of the product/system in the customers' applications and recommend/implement corrective actions needed
- Follow key engineering procedures, including Product Development Process and Engineering Change Order processes
- Work with Advanced Development Engineers to review technology readiness to launch new products
- Collaborate with other development teams on larger products
- Collaborate with departments, such as New Product Implementation, purchasing, quality, program management, finance, safety, production, etc.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards for medical devices
- Provide expert guidance on power electronics design, control strategies, and system integration
- Evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies for surgical energy applications
- Drive critical thinking and problem-solving across complex engineering challenges
- Location: Cork - on site
- Works in a standard office environment
- Domestic and International travel of up to 10%
- Interfaces with internal & external customers in all functional areas
- Proven track record of developing power electronics prototypes and products
- Experience with influencing and negotiating in complex situations
- Advanced knowledge of power conversion topologies, high-frequency switching, and control systems
- Familiarity with electrosurgical technologies, pulsed electric fields, or ablation systems is highly desirable

Essential:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in electronic engineering or similar field. Ideally, a PhD or master's degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, or related field
- Minimum 8+ years in highly technical design and development, preferably in medical or high-reliability systems
- Show a progression of technical responsibilities and creation of IP in previous roles
