COPE Galway is seeking committed and compassionate Project Workers to join our dynamic Homeless Services team. The successful candidates will provide practical support and advocacy for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, with a primary focus on assisting service users to secure and maintain appropriate long-term accommodation, and where necessary, access health and social care supports. This role provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of COPE Galway's homeless services, including: Short-Term Accommodation for individuals and families Support for those in Private Emergency Accommodation (PEA) Day Centre and Outreach support for people at risk of rough sleeping Resettlement, Tenancy Support, and Community-Based Housing Cold Weather Response services during winter months Initial placement will be based on service needs, and future assignments may involve rotation across services. Key Responsibilities: Client Support & Case Work Process service referrals and conduct needs assessments in a sensitive and professional manner Deliver one-to-one support through key working, focused on securing housing, improving wellbeing, and enhancing independence Assist clients in accessing local health, welfare, education, training, and employment services Advocate on behalf of clients and support self-advocacy where possible Engage with clients in a non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and empathetic manner Promote the use of clients' strengths in overcoming homelessness Service Operations & Teamwork Support the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and a welcoming environment Maintain accurate case records and incident logs in line with COPE Galway and national standards (e.g. PASS system) Contribute to service development and continuous quality improvement Work flexibly across services, including lone working and on-call duties if required Engage in team meetings, supervision, and training as part of ongoing professional development Promote positive relationships with external agencies, neighbours, and the wider community Ensure compliance with COPE Galway's policies on child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and GDPR Essential Experience & Skills: Minimum of 2 years' experience working with vulnerable or marginalised groups Recognised third-level qualification (Level 8+) in social care or related field OR CORU registration In-depth understanding of homelessness and related complex needs (e.g., trauma, addiction, family breakdown) Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills Team-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage challenging situations calmly Commitment to equity, inclusion, and a rights-based approach Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and IT skills A full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle may be required for some roles T&C's Salary: Starting salary of €36,392 per annum
