
Mechanical Design Engineer -(Galway) (Cork)

- Reporting to the Senior / Lead Mechanical Design Engineer.
- Part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers responsible to produce design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants.
- Responsible for assisting in all aspects of Mechanical design from site surveys of existing assets, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing.
- Production of procurement specifications for mechanical equipment and production of detailed design construction drawings.
- Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams. Liaising with subcontractors / suppliers.
- Work as part of a team to support project delivery function, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture.
- Ensure Design, Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to.
- Ensure Glanua's & the Clients' Technical Requirements are met throughout the design.
- Update Design Change Control.
- Liaise between Electrical and Civil & Structural Designers
- Be involved in the growth and development of the company including expansion of the direct delivery model.
- Show an eagerness to learn and progress in your own career as well as the mentoring and training of more junior staff.
- Other duties as required from time to time.
- Provide commitment to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with complying fully with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM) and all other relevant H&S legislation.
- Experience of the layout and interconnectivity of typical water and wastewater treatment works processes and equipment including pumping systems is desired
- Strong communication skills to interact with other engineering disciplines and the project team
- Ability to produce clear and concise mechanical design deliverables across all design stages of a project
- Willingness to contribute to and help develop technical knowledge networks
- A drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions
- Flexibility to travel within the UK (including Northern Ireland) and Ireland (where our head office is based) would be advantageous to help support our overall workload
