Experienced CNC Miller/Turner
Location: WaterfordHartley People Recruitment is seeking an Experienced CNC Miller/Turner on behalf of a leading precision engineering manufacturer supplying components to high-tech sectors such as medical devices, electronics, and industrial equipment.Operating to ISO 9001:2015 standards, this well-established business is known for delivering complex, high-tolerance parts in a collaborative, quality-focused environment.This is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled machining team in a role requiring strong technical ability in CNC programming, setting, and operation, along with a commitment to maintaining exacting quality standards.Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, program, and operate CNC milling and turning machines, including 4- and 5-axis equipment.
  • Run production parts on multiple machines, ensuring output meets tight tolerances.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and work orders to ensure correct dimensions and finishes.
  • Monitor cycle times and adjust programs or setups to maintain efficiency.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and address non-conformances in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Complete required production documentation, traceability logs, and quality records.
  • Carry out basic preventative maintenance including lubrication, calibration checks, and tooling inspections.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to meet production schedules.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years’ hands-on experience operating CNC milling or turning machines.
  • Proven ability to set and program CNC equipment for new and repeat production runs.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.
  • Confident with manual and digital precision measuring tools.
  • Good standard of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work on a permanent evening shift (39 hrs/week + shift rate) or on a two-shift rotation (mornings/evenings).
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with HAAS controls or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with high-precision, small-batch manufacturing.
  • Understanding of material properties and machining strategies for different alloys.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
