Excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Technician to join a Biologics company in Sligo. The Maintenance Engineer is a hands-on role reporting to the Engineering Manager, responsible for maintaining and optimising plant, utilities, and machinery while ensuring compliance with GMP, regulatory, and EHS standards. The role works closely with Quality, Operations, and MSAT teams, driving accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration across engineering.Overview of your responsibilities:
  • Maintain machinery, plant, utilities, and facilities to GMP standards.
  • Carry out installation, emergency, corrective, and preventive maintenance.
  • Complete routine PMs, update records, and keep CMMS (eMaint) current.
  • Manage contractors/vendors on site, permits to work, and review reports.
  • Troubleshoot with Operations, Quality, and MSAT to resolve issues quickly.
  • Ensure all work complies with SOPs, EHS standards, and legal requirements.
  • Perform breakdown/root cause analysis using problem-solving tools.
  • Support projects by helping specify, install, commission, and test new equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required for the Role:
  • Degree or trade qualification in Engineering.
  • 5+ years in GMP manufacturing,
  • 3+ years in maintenance (chemical, HVAC/mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, control & BMS).
  • Skilled in maintaining utilities, facilities & production/process equipment.
  • Strong technical aptitude with hands-on approach.
  • Team player who collaborates to solve problems.
  • Proactive, able to work independently within QMS & Engineering standards.
