This is a great opportunity to join an expanding hospital team where we promote a strong working team culture in a supportive environment.Key Responsibilities and Deliverables· Participate in the day-to-day management of patients under the supervision of the Consultant (and Registrar, where applicable).· Attend and contribute to daily ward rounds and handover processes.· Assess, review, and document patient findings as required.· Order investigations, including radiology, blood tests, and other diagnostic tests, in line with the management plan.· Prescribe medications in accordance with hospital policies and clinical guidelines.· Admit patients as required, ensuring comprehensive documentation of medical history, medication lists, physical examination findings and consultant led management plan.· Discharge patients appropriately, including timely completion of discharge summaries and prescriptions.· Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the electronic medical record system (Meditech).· Escalate clinical concerns and queries promptly to the Consultant (and Registrar, where applicable).· Respond appropriately to adverse events (e.g. patient deterioration, falls, injuries, sudden illness affecting patients, visitors, or staff).· Contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.· Assist in the education and training of medical students, colleagues, and other staff.· Comply with all mandatory training requirements as specified by the hospital.· Adhere to hospital policies and procedures e.g. infection prevention and control and blood management guidelines.· Comply with Health and Safety regulations, ensuring safe working practices and environment.· Participate in the on-call rota, including weekend, public holiday, and night shift cover.· Demonstrate commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical effectiveness.· Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team and as an active team member.· Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.Education and Training:Beacon Hospital is a UCD-affiliated teaching hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education as follows:· Assist in the education and clinical training of medical students attending clinical placements.· Provide tutorials, where appropriate, and when possible to students on their rotation.· Encourage and support student participation in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.· Facilitate students in observing clinical practice in accordance with UCD Beacon Hospital Academy requirements.· Support Medical and Surgical Clinical Tutors by identifying suitable patients for student assessment and teaching.· Provide support and guidance to Interns during their three-monthly rotations.· Meet regularly with specialty-specific Interns to review progress and address learning needs.· Act as a mentor to Interns, supporting their professional development appropriate to their stage of training.· Contribute to NCHD teaching activities, including participation in formal teaching sessions.Person SpecificationQualifications
  • Medical degree, MBBS or equivalent.
  • Current relevant Irish Medical Council (IMC) Registration.
Eligibility
  • Must be eligible for an appropriate employment permit to work in an Irish Private Hospital setting.
Experience
  • Experience in an Acute Hospital setting
Job Specific Competencies and Knowledge
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification
Personal Competencies
  • Demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical effectiveness.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team as an effective team member.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • All posts in Beacon Hospital require a high level of flexibility to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient service. Therefore, the post holder will be required to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet service needs and ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service when required by their manager or hospital management.
