
Transport Planner

- Full responsibility for the preparation of the daily transport plan for specific customer groups and/or geographical areas in conjunction with other planners.
- Ensuring that the daily plan is checked for accuracy and is planned to achieve the best possible efficiencies in terms of driver, truck and equipment routing.
- Working with other planners on any daily planning matters relating to sharing resources and/or routing of trucks, trailers or other equipment.
- Liaise with all Transport Administrators to ensure high quality customer service including but not limited to ensuring clear and accurate communications to customers, timely reporting and paperwork returns.
- Ensure clear and accurate communication with drivers with daily instructions and other relevant information.
- Ensure that any discrepancies or required changes to job notes or instructions are raised with the Administrators and rectified.
- Monitor driver's working hours to ensure balanced workdays and work weeks. Review hours worked each Thursday morning with a view balancing hours for the remainder of the week.
- Provide input on driver leave requests to ensure adequate number of drivers available at key periods.
- Provide support to the Transport Administration Team, as required.
- Ensure other specific instructions (such as site audits) and communications are issued to drivers in a timely fashion.
- Escalate any planning related matters to the Transport Manager/Operations Manager in a timely manner.
- Escalate any Health & Safety, HR related matters to the Transport Manager/SHEQ Manager in a timely manner.
- Strive for continuous improvement, efficiency and streamlining planning operations.
- Work with the Transport Manager/ Operations Manager to identify Key Performance Matrix for planning operations.
- Deliver on a key set of Monthly and Annual Performance Indicators.
- Always providing the highest standards of customer service in line with company values.
- Identify and highlight to management any potential improvement opportunities.
- Attend operational and other meetings as required by management.
- Undertake any other reasonable work as required.
- To report on any quality or safety risks, concerns, or opportunities for improvement to their supervisor or management
- Degree in Transport & Logistics OR equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role
