- Data Strategy and Design: Develop and implement comprehensive data architectures, including data models, pipelines, and integration strategies that support business goals. Understand and articulate the purpose and application of data across the organization.
- Architecture Leadership: Design and oversee the implementation of data lakes, warehouses, and modern data stacks using tools like Databricks. Ensure architectures are scalable, secure, and performant.
- Data Governance and Compliance: Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, with a focus on GDPR compliance, data privacy (including HIPAA where applicable), and security best practices. Advise on data management policies to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clients, business stakeholders, and technical teams to identify data needs, enhance data production and management processes, and drive adoption of data solutions. Use excellent communication skills to influence and convince stakeholders on architectural decisions.
- Documentation and Blueprints: Create detailed architectural blueprints, documentation, and standards for data systems to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintainability.
- Technology Implementation: Lead the integration of cloud-based data solutions on platforms like Azure or AWS, including managing data lakes and optimizing for efficiency.
- Innovation and Best Practices: Stay abreast of industry trends in data architecture, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend improvements to our data ecosystem.
- Mentorship: Guide junior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of excellence in data practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture and/or data engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and Power BI for data processing, analytics, and visualization.
- Expertise in cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, including data storage, processing, and security features.
- Familiarity with data governance, compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), and security best practices.
- Deep understanding of modern data stack technologies, including ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and big data tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven experience managing data lakes and optimizing data workflows.
- Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) tools or Microsoft Fabric.
- Knowledge of additional data technologies such as SQL, NoSQL databases, Apache Spark, Kafka, ML with Python.
- Prior experience in regulated industries (e.g., finance, education, healthcare) with a focus on data compliance.
- Certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Data Architect) or data management.
- Master's degree in Computer/Data Science.
