Join us as the Director, R&D Governance Operations and Operating Model, a pivotal role in facilitating R&D pipeline governance decisions at Alexion AstraZeneca Rare Disease. This role is a key member of Alexion's R&D Global Portfolio and Program Management (GPPM) team, contributing to the Product to Patient (P2P) governance pathway. The role is both demanding but also highly rewarding in being a part of some of the company's most critical enterprise decisions.You will be responsible for:As Director, you will serve as a consultant to Global Program Teams (GPTs) to enable clear program narratives and governance decision making. You will be accountable for Governance meeting preparation, conduct, and documentation management in an efficient and compliant manner. You will oversee daily R&D governance operations to support, document, and implement decisions made by Alexion governance committees (Early-Stage Product Committee (ESPC) & Late-Stage Product Committee (LSPC)), for Alexion's drug pipeline investments, which directly contributes to the development of new medicines for patients. Additional operating model responsibilities include driving continuous improvement of the R&D Product to Patient (P2P) operating model, including problem solving and influencing with stakeholders to develop solutions that drive efficiency and effectiveness. This includes developing guidance, training, and supportive material for drug development teams. For major enterprise initiatives, this role will lead or contribute toward the development and implementation of processes that align to Alexion's ways of working.You will need to have:
  • Bachelor's or equivalent with 10 years industry experience required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience within one or more functional role(s) in pharmaceutical R&D drug development, biotechnology drug development, pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, or related industry.
  • Broad understanding and experience of Pharmaceutical Industry and drug development process.
  • Experience working in a global organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of Pipeline Governance and application of R&D development operating models
  • Ability to lead and influence with multiple level of stakeholders across the organization.
  • Experience communicating effectively with Senior Management, Leadership teams and cross-functional teams.
We would prefer for you to have:
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MS, MBA, PhD or equivalent)
  • PMP or project management certification
  • Matrix leadership experience
  • Pharmaceutical R&D or manufacturing operations Project Management experience
  • Previous experience managing stage gate processes and governance board logistics.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement experience
