
Design Manager - Civil Infrastructure

- Manage the whole design process, including interface, coordination, and direction of Discipline Leads in terms of methodology and technical solutions
- Ensure each design team fully understands scope, deliverables, interfaces and related dependencies per stage between discipline
- Hold full knowledge of contracted scope of work and deliverables per stage and per discipline
- Monitor design process progress, implements changes / variations to the design in collaboration with Change and Project Manager
- Ensure design is supporting client's key objectives and meets project specifications
- Take a central position in the design process and interfaces with various external stakeholders
- Developing and working with sub-consultants, typically external quantity surveyors, architects, landscape architects, specialist designers and the like
- Interfacing with the internal Planning team as necessary for the production/updating of programmes on larger projects (typically generated in Primavera P6 format)
- Accountable for end-stage review of team performance and design stage deliverables with client, internal peer review (where necessary) and Steering Committee / Project Owner, ensuring adherence to Ramboll´s internal procedures
- Ensure highest standards of health and safety are promoted and maintained in the scope and within the project team
- Minimum HNC/HND in a Building/Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Preferably a chartered member of an appropriate construction focused association or institute (e.g. ICE/IEI)
- Experience in a design management role in the construction industry, preferably within a multidisciplinary engineering design consultancy
- Knowledge of National Infrastructure Programmes such as National Highway's Project Control Framework and delivery of schemes within their Regional Investment Programme
- Knowledge of construction and the design processes
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations
- An understanding of various types of procurement methods and contract administration requirements including NEC3 and NEC4
