With a continued record of growth and stability, we're on the constant lookout for talent to join our expanding teams to make the healthcare system works better for everyone.As a Senior Business Analyst you will be responsible for ensuring the operational excellence of our EDPS Submission product through managing Risk Adjustment Data from Clients to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). This is accomplished through coordinated analysis, review, and collaboration with teams within our organization, in addition to external parties with an interest in our product. You will help clients navigate the complexities of data submissions, resolve issues, and meet regulatory requirements. Your goal is to drive submission accuracy and timeliness—targeting over data 99% acceptance rate. The successful candidate will serve as the liaison and key contact between the business operations team and the stakeholders we support – notably operational leadership, Tech Engineering, and our clients (both commercial and internal). This role is critical in our ability to provide our clients with operational excellence as a part of the Risk & Quality Clinical Solutions Team.Working Schedule: Full-time position with standard working hours of Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Analyze disparate data sources and identify opportunities for enhancements or business processes to be performed
  • Lead project plan and organize improvements to client data and our operational processes
  • Provide insightful analysis to solve business problems encountered
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert resource for operational staff as it pertains to 837 submissions and the EDPS database structure and design
  • Ensure we meet and exceed established KPIs as they pertain to EPDS Submissions
  • Assist clients in navigating complex issues and data analysis involving, at times, several teams within Optum
  • Take a lead role in the development of new controls and analysis into shortcomings of existing controls
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify any issues in current operational data processing
  • Evaluate gaps in EDPS submissions for potential enhancements to clients’ submission accuracy and associated HCC capture rates
  • Develop and maintain processes and meetings related to the evaluation and remediation of data in error
  • Assist on special projects as requested
Additional Responsibilities:

  • Present analysis and interpretation for operational and business review and planning
  • Support short and long term operational/strategic business activities through analysis
  • Develop recommended business solutions through research and analysis of data and business process and implement when appropriate
  • Develop and implement effective operational business solutions through research and analysis of data and business processes
  • Work with less structured, more complex issues and serve as a resource to others

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in business, Finance, Health Administration, related field Or Equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in business/finance/data analysis, reporting or forecasting
  • Ability to communicate complex data analysis including trends and improvement opportunities to business partners both in writing and verbally
  • Experience with process improvement, project management, workflow, benchmarking and / or evaluation of business processes
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with PC-based software programs required (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Working knowledge of SQL/relational databases or Healthcare Claim processing/health care related data
  • Experience in gathering, analyzing, and reporting on data
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 837 claim format experience
  • Working knowledge of Python, Unix systems and commands
  • Experience in an Agile work environment
  • Technical Skills

  • Interpersonal skills, ability to work and present effectively with all levels of leadership, as well as business partners in other UHG entities
  • Advanced verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and multitask with little to no direction
  • Ability to solve problems including juggling multiple priorities and perform research on conflicting and/or inaccurate data
