The UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic Physiotherapy Department are currently recruting for the full time position of Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to join their team. This specialist team are dedicated to helping our patients achieve their physical goals and improve their quality of life. Our team of professional physiotherapists are all Chartered and CORU Registered, with a focus on musculoskeletal conditions, orthopaedics, and sports injuries.Our facilities are state-of-the-art, with a fully equipped rehabilitation gym and access to a biomechanics laboratory, including Isokinetics Testing. Our patients have rapid access to our Radiology Department, allowing us to diagnose and treat injuries efficiently and effectively.At UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic, our mission is to provide comprehensive, personalised care to each of our patients, with the goal of getting you back to your active lifestyle as soon as possible. So whether our patients are professional athletes or weekend warriors, we provide a physiotherapy service to support them on their road to recovery.The successful candidate will:
  • Provide clinical excellence in rehabilitation (upper limb/spinal/lower limb streams).
  • Work with multidisciplinary team (Doctors/S&C/biomechanics).
  • Support, develop and mentor other staff members.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Providing leadership in clinical caseload management, assess and delegate referrals appropriately, and manage patient care through the rehabilitation pathway.
  • Responsible for roster, time management, and scheduling of own time.
  • Deliver highest quality service of outpatient, pre-operative, and post-operative patient rehabilitation.
  • Refer patients to appropriate orthopaedic consultants, sports and exercise medicine consultants, and other tertiary services.
  • Work on a rota to maintain a 5-day-a-week service.
  • Ensure appropriate record keeping, including billing, and maintenance of good practice in data recording and evidence-based medicine.
  • Drive research initiatives within the specialist pathway and ensure services are evidence-based.
  • Contribute to the continuous professional development program in the sports medicine department.
  • Conduct an audit of service delivery of stream-specific interest.
Line Management will resposibility will include stream members.Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree or equivalent.
  • MSc Physiotherapy, Strength and Conditioning or Sports Science.
  • Further qualifications in clinical specialist area is advantageous.
  • 5 years post-graduate experience.
  • Previous experience working with and delivering services to a sports team would be advantageous.
  • Candidate must be a member of CORU.
This position reports to the Head of Physiotherapy.This position reports to the Head of Physiotherapy.Note: This job description may be subject to review and amendment to meet the changing needs of the service.
