Project Worker, Advice and Information, North WestLocation: SligoContract: Full Time, 2 year Fixed TermThe purpose of this role is to work as part of Focus Ireland’s Advice and Information Service, to deliver a dedicated, advice, advocacy and support service to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.What you will do:Provide information, advice and advocacy to individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, including housing options, legal rights and social welfare entitlements.Undertake assessments and develop, implement and review support plans addressing individuals’ personal, social and accommodation needs.Liaise with and advocate on behalf of service users with relevant statutory authorities and service providers.Manage a caseload and operate an open‑access drop‑in, phone and email support service.Establish and maintain effective links with local services, community groups and relevant external agencies.Refer individuals to appropriate external agencies to meet their personal, social, legal and housing needs.Work under the supervision and direction of line management within the project, both independently and as part of a team.Contribute actively to team support on a daily basis and promote collaborative working practices.Operate within a client‑centred approach, encouraging service user autonomy, independence and informed choice.Comply with all relevant Focus Ireland policies and procedures, including Child Protection, Confidentiality, Customer Complaints, Health and Safety and Personnel policies.Maintain accurate case records, reports and statistics in line with Focus Ireland policy and data requirements.Participate in service development, evaluation, reflective practice, supervision and agreed training and professional development activities.Attend and contribute to team, section and agency meetings, remain vigilant to health and safety risks, and undertake other reasonable duties as assigned by the Project or Team Leader.What you will need:Relevant third level degree in the area of social care i.e. youth work, social studies, addiction, psychology, law /or be a CORU registered Social Care WorkerAt least 2 years’ experience in the social care or legal fieldExperience of supporting marginalised households with high risk and challenging behaviourA working knowledge of issues affecting people out-of-home and their impact on people and their physical, emotional and psychological development/status.Proven advocacy skills.Experience of dealing with child protection and welfare responsibilities and responding appropriately to any concerns.Ability to display flexibility in the role.Full clean driver’s licence.
