The successful candidate will be required to start Monday 12th January 2026.The Department of Neurosurgery at Cork University Hospital (CUH) is seeking to hire an experienced Neurosurgical Registrar. This post will provide research and clinical support to neuroscience research and clinical trials within the department.This is an exciting opportunity for the post-holder to join a busy neurosurgical unit.The successful applicant will be involved in the General Neurosurgery rota, and a 1:6 on call as the first on call Registrar. This involves supporting the more junior medical staff, assessment and clerking of new admissions, initiating investigations, performing emergency neurosurgical procedures and treatment. Consultant guidance will be available. The elective clinical work may vary from week to week depending on the service and research needs.The post holder will participate at the existing Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings (MDT) currently on-going in the department. This post provides excellent neurosurgical experience and plentiful educational opportunities for the post-holder, who will be encouraged to participate in educational programme and presentations.Qualifications and skillsSuitable applicants should have experience at Registrar level in Neurosurgery, preferably in the UK and Ireland. Applicants should be registered with the Irish Medical Council and passed MRCS or equivalent. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong grounding in Cranial and Spinal Neurosurgery, research and teaching. While prior clinical research experience and/or publications are desirable, these are not essential.
