Social Care Leader, Under 18s Residential, DalkeyLocation: DalkeyContract: Full Time, Specific PurposeThe purpose of this role is to provide high‑quality care, protection, and support to vulnerable or dependent clients both individually and in group settings in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team and relevant external agencies.What you will do:Work within the overall objectives, values, policies, and procedures of Focus Ireland, contributing to a consistent, team‑based residential care environment.Participate in the development, implementation, and accurate recording of Care and Placement Plans for each young person.Promote and support the physical, emotional, social, educational, and spiritual well‑being of young people, including encouraging attendance at school, appointments, and meaningful activities.Uphold and advocate for the rights and responsibilities of each young person, ensuring their active participation in decisions that affect their lives.Build positive relationships with parents, families, external services, and other agencies, attending meetings relating to the young person’s care and development.Manage personal documentation, arrangements, information, and finances on behalf of young people where required.Maintain all records in line with statutory requirements, health and safety legislation, and internal procedures, ensuring accurate handovers and consistent interventions across shifts.Participate in shift planning, team meetings, reviews, and roster systems, providing shift leadership when required and cooperating with managers on rota management.Engage in age‑appropriate play, activities, and, when necessary and in line with policy, physical interventions to support the safety and welfare of young people.Demonstrate empathy, dignity, respect, initiative, and commitment to delivering high‑quality care, while identifying and supporting service improvements.Adhere to all Health, Safety and Welfare at Work regulations, reporting any concerns to management, and assisting in the implementation of Focus Ireland settlement policies and strategies.Participate in regular professional supervision, ongoing training, and continuous development, and undertake any additional reasonable duties as assigned by management.What you will need:Hold a CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration (evidence of application will be necessary)( )A minimum of 2 years full-time work experience in a children’s residential setting.A working knowledge of the impact of childhood adversity on adolescentsA working knowledge and awareness of HIQA National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres.Ability to manage and support teenagers in crisis who present with challenging behaviours.A high standard of written communicationWorking knowledge and understanding of Child Protection.Working knowledge of the national standards for children’s residentialsA working knowledge and understanding of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model.
