Type: Permanent, Full-TimeGempool is hiring for their client who is a global M&E consultancy supporting large-scale engineering projects within the digital infrastructure and built environment sectors. With a strong presence in the data centre space, they specialise in low-energy design and end-to-end project delivery, helping clients achieve carbon-neutral ambitions while building mission-critical facilities worldwide.As part of their continued growth in Ireland, they are now seeking a Mechanical Technical Director to join their Dublin team. This is a senior leadership role, focused on driving high-performance engineering delivery across some of the most technically complex projects in Europe.Key Responsibilities:
- Take the lead on the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical services for major data centre projects.
- Support the senior leadership team in business strategy, team development, and local office management.
- Carry out feasibility studies, project fee proposals, and commercial diagnostics.
- Engage directly with clients to understand and define project objectives.
- Monitor and manage project progress, producing regular updates and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Specify mechanical control systems, instruments, and operating methodologies for high-efficiency solutions.
- Conduct site surveys and performance testing of mechanical systems.
- Ensure projects meet commercial targets, including margin and budget control.
- Oversee the construction and installation phases, providing hands-on technical direction.
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
- Mentor junior engineers, encouraging technical growth and progression within the team.
- Participate in tender processes, contractor selection, and equipment procurement.
- Represent the organisation at technical meetings and industry events.
- Contribute to internal technical knowledge through white papers and best practice sharing.
- Deliver work to the highest quality standards, aligned with the firm's project delivery process and QA/QC expectations.
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is essential.
- Extensive experience in mechanical design across high-value construction projects, ideally including data centres or similar mission-critical environments.
- Strong understanding of international codes, Irish building regulations, and sustainability goals.
- Proven commercial awareness, with experience in budget control and project financials.
- Confident user of design tools, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with a track record of managing teams and mentoring junior staff.
- Able to represent the business at a senior level with clients, contractors, and consultants.
- Background in consultancy or construction is highly desirable.
