About The RoleCurrie & Brown is currently looking for a chartered quantity surveyor for our Dublin office to join our Public Sector Team and potentially lead service delivery on Acute and Non Acute healthcare projects. The successful candidate will pro-actively support project leaders in generating a high standard of day to day service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.The candidate will be required to develop and mentor the junior staff supporting the senior Management Team, fulfilling the role of Work Order Manager within a short period, responsible for budgeting and resource management of projects under their supervision.Currie & Brown are committed to career development and expect the successful, candidate will rapidly progress to senior level and beyond, managing all aspects of their own commissions.This position is in the Dublin office, and offers a blended mix of office and working from home.Responsibilities:
  • Conducting feasibility studies, options appraisals for sites
  • Writing procurement reports
  • Applying value management techniques at the outset of a project
  • Supporting and Managing estimating and cost planning activities, to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan
  • Supporting and Managing the procurement process, ensuring that all stages (including pre-qualification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation) are performed effectively
  • Ensuring that cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively
  • Producing accurate monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the client
  • Undertaking value engineering and lifecycle costing
  • Negotiating and concluding final accounts
  • Taking a lead role in interfacing with the clients construction teams and other consultants at all project stages
  • Cost management and ensuring that they deliver on all of the above accountabilities
  • Supervising and mentoring junior and trainee members of the team
  • Assisting in the marketing and development of Currie & brown in the Irish market
Requirements:
  • BSc in quantity surveying or equivalent
  • Chartered Membership of the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland
  • Pre- and post-contract experience in the Republic of Ireland, preferably in the Healthcare sector
  • Experience in working with GCCC and RIAI forms of contract
  • Experience in Public Procurement and Public Spending Codes - drafting SAQ requirements and Award Criteria for ITT's
  • Good technical writing, client-facing and communication skills (both internal and external)
  • Well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
  • Able to run projects with minimal supervision and attend project meetings independently
  • A team player with a 'can-do' attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful and flexible
