Mode: Based on-site with Hybrid options post onboardingAbout the RoleOptimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor, delivering high-profile infrastructure projects across Galway. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the commercial aspects of major public works, including transport infrastructure, active travel schemes, road upgrades, public realm enhancements, and associated civil works.This is a long-term opportunity with a contractor recognised for delivering projects to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Responsibilities

Oversee full commercial management of large-scale civil engineering projects
Prepare, review, and manage cost plans, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
Lead procurement and tendering for subcontractors, suppliers, and services
Negotiate contract terms, variations, and claims in line with company procedures
Ensure compliance with all contractual, financial, and legislative requirements
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement cost control measures
Prepare valuations, progress claims, and final accounts
Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure successful delivery
Provide commercial advice and guidance to site teams
Maintain accurate records and reports for internal and client review

Requirements

Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field
7+ years’ experience in quantity surveying, ideally with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil contractor, ideally in the Irish or UK market
Strong background in civil engineering projects such as roads, bridges, utilities, or public realm works
Proficiency in contract administration, ideally with experience of Public Works or NEC forms of contract
Excellent negotiation, reporting, and cost management skills
Ability to manage multiple packages and stakeholders effectively
Full Irish driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the Galway & Connacht region
Irish/UK market experience highly advantageous
