The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the commercial aspects of major public works, including transport infrastructure, active travel schemes, road upgrades, public realm enhancements, and associated civil works.This is a long-term opportunity with a contractor recognised for delivering projects to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. - Oversee full commercial management of large-scale civil engineering projects
- Prepare, review, and manage cost plans, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
- Lead procurement and tendering for subcontractors, suppliers, and services
- Negotiate contract terms, variations, and claims in line with company procedures
- Ensure compliance with all contractual, financial, and legislative requirements
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement cost control measures
- Prepare valuations, progress claims, and final accounts
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure successful delivery
- Provide commercial advice and guidance to site teams
- Maintain accurate records and reports for internal and client review
- Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field
- 7+ years’ experience in quantity surveying, ideally with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil contractor, ideally in the Irish or UK market
- Strong background in civil engineering projects such as roads, bridges, utilities, or public realm works
- Proficiency in contract administration, ideally with experience of Public Works or NEC forms of contract
- Excellent negotiation, reporting, and cost management skills
- Ability to manage multiple packages and stakeholders effectively
- Full Irish driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the Galway & Connacht region
- Irish/UK market experience highly advantageous
