Job descriptionSonas Technical are currently seeking an experienced Toolmaker for our continuously growing client, a leading Engineering company who specialise in the bespoke design and manufacturing of steel projects to various industries – Pharma, Medical, High Tech, Civils, Waste Water Treatment to name a few. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;
  • Producing standard machined parts for production to a high standard.
  • Working alongside the Engineering and R&D departments to develop new products.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to ensure the timely and quality of components.
  • Perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
  • Maintain excellent machining and quality parameters on parts and projects.
  • Manufacture and repair of jigs, fixtures, gauges etc. as required.
  • Interpret drawings, evaluate machining methods on assignments and assist other toolmakers and apprentices in the operation and setup of toolroom equipment.
  • Operate and maintain all conventional toolmaking machines.
Experience / Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years' relevant practical experience in a Toolroom Environment is essential.
  • Proficient in programming & operating Doosan CNC mill, Milltronics CNC lathe, surface grinders or comparable machines.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Understanding of CNC Machinery, G & M - codes, Offsets etc.
  • Experience of CAD/CAM would be an advantage.
  • Experience of Lean manufacturing systems and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Attention to detail and precision in all aspects of toolmaking.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Have good attention to detail and strong ability to learn new techniques, systems and technologies.
