- Assist R&D Engineering in the specification, design and procurement of new equipment.
- Support R&D Engineering process development, characterization and optimization activities.
- Assist R&D Engineering in all aspects of Validation document generation and execution. (risk assessments, validation assessments and execution of commissioning / validation documents)
- Responsible for maintenance of R&D Engineering equipment and utilities equipment.
- Responsible for R&D Molding Machine set-up & tooling changes for operation inclusive of preventative maintenance.
- Assembly, build, installation of new equipment due to site. Identification/setup of spare parts for new or existing equipment on site.
- Liaise with Suppliers/External Contractors to obtain quotations, method statements & risk assessments and coordinate the onsite activities of contract personnel
- Provide first response technical support to all R&D Engineering process and utilities equipment
- Daily reporting into Supervisor/Project Engineer on all activities and highlighting concerns early.
- Responsible for achieving assigned project milestones for R&D Engineering activities on time and within Budget.
- Support safety risk assessments for any new equipment and /or processes introduced.
- Responsible for investigating and documenting process issues and report to Engineering all findings and solutions.
- Ensure continual Quality System compliance by adherence to established and evolving Alcon QS requirements.
- Assigned work adheres to H&S and environmental requirements.
- A preferred Level 7 qualification in an Engineering or Technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years previous experience in a similar technical role in the Medical Device Industry
- Preferred: 5+ years’ experience in a similar technical role in the Medical Device Industry
- Ability to trouble-shoot electrical, mechanical and pneumatic equipment issues.
- Familiarity with robotics, PLCs, vision systems.
- Technical competence in operating and repairing highly automated Equipment.
- Good understanding of networks and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with Veeva, Maximo and Teamcenter.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
- Knowledge of ISO, FDA, GMP standards.
