Our collaborative work culture and dedication to innovation and technology are and will continue to be the key to our success.Job Title: Server Infrastructure EngineerLocation: JJ Rhatigan & Company, Galway Head OfficeThe PositionThe Server Infrastructure Engineer is a member of the IT Team who will play a key role in a number of projects to upgrade the network environment.The Server Infrastructure Engineer reports to the Director of IT and will work closely with other members of the IT Team.The Server Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for:
  • Planning, configuration & testing of the network subnets/routing.
  • Planning, testing and configuration of firewalls and all related services.
  • Liaise and manage relationships with end users and Third-party application suppliers to ensure all systems are secure, stable and operating as expected.
  • Working with Server hardware and related infrastructure such as - Servers, Out-of-band Management, RAID controllers, RAID sets, Backup systems.
  • Operating and creating Virtual Machines (VMs) for the best performance and management of Windows OSEs.
The role is based at the Headquarters in Galway and will involve visits to our office locations in Ireland and on occasion in London.Responsibilities:
  • Planning, testing and configuration of Windows environment - Azure & AD.
  • Planning, testing and migration of various SQL server databases.
  • Manage and administer the Microsoft Azure cloud environment, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, policy governance and security.
  • Design, develop, and implement highly available, multi-region solutions within Microsoft Azure
  • Analyze existing operational standards, processes, and/or governance to identify and implement improvements.
  • Liaise and manage relationships with end users and Third-party application suppliers to ensure all systems are secure, stable and operating as expected.
  • Provide hands-on general support and configuration in the Windows server environment.
  • Follow documented system build/decommissioning procedures and update and/or create technical Documentation where necessary.
  • Deliver assigned work programme and provide backup cover to other members of the IT Team where necessary.
Key Requirements, Qualifications, Experience and Required SkillsEssential
  • Minimum 5 Years experience of building and migrating Windows Server environments.
  • Relevant ICT related degree (desirable) and/or ICT qualification (MCSA/MCSE)
  • Knowledge and experience of Hypervisor Platforms and concepts (HyperV).
  • Knowledge and experience of SQL server installations (MSSQL).
  • Knowledge and experience of firewalls & routers (Cisco, Palo Alto).
  • Excellent problem solving, technical issue resolution and problem management
  • Ability to work on own initiative and demonstrate proactive ownership of work programme
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to be part of a team and follow instructions accurately and effectively
  • Flexible approach to work and working hours
Desirable
  • Familiarity with some of the following - VDI/Citrix, Certificate Management.
