At Lighthouse Studios, our six core values, pride, passion, persistence, playfulness, poise and people-focus, underpin everything we do and provide guidance for us as we grow and learn.We are now on the hunt for an experienced After Effects Comp artist who will join us in our quest to create the best possible animated content for our partners.The start date for this role is July 2024.This role is based in our studio in Kilkenny.Due to employment time constraints, for this role we will only be able to consider applications from residents within the EU / EU passport holders only. NO FREELANCE OPTIONThe role is for a 2D animated feature film, with a hybrid mix of traditional and rigged animation.About the roleAs an After Effects Comp Artist you will create the final image of a frame, shot or sequence.We really value can-do attitudes here at Lighthouse.   • Create and composite digital FX, highlights and tones within the current compositing pipeline.
  • Collaborate with teams’ FX artists and supervisors to achieve consistent and high-quality results.
  • Manage renders and set up shots technically.
  • Integrate all layers including animation, environment, lighting and AFX-related materials to create the final shots.
  • Ensure and maintain the expected quality, style and schedule across the production.
  • Meet production deadlines and maintain regular communication with leads and supervisors.
  • Collaborate with other team members to improve methods, workflows and techniques.
  • Identify and report any issues that arise that may affect timelines or delivery schedules.
  • Work very closely with the animation supervisor, layout supervisor and compositing supervisor on direction of each scene.
  • Export background elements from Adobe Photoshop, and animation sequences from Toon Boom Harmony.
  • Layer each sequence/scene you are provided with using After Effects.
  • Add camera-moves, masks, filters, blurs, colour-adjustments, colour grading,texture work, time-effects and anything else that generally falls under the umbrella of 2D compositing.
  • Analyse and troubleshoot common technical issues in conjunction with the compositing Lead/Supervisor to solve problems within scenes.
  • Archive relevant comp material for partial reuse in the future.
  • Other duties as may be required with early compositing and scene prep.
The above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks.What we're looking for
  • Minimum 2 year of animation or live-action composition experience is required
  • VFX, mogfx & 2D tv or film experience, Multiplaning and advance lighting
  • Experience using After Effects is required
  • Comfortable in the adobe CC suite
  • Experience using Toom boom, Nuke or other node based compositing software is considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 year of animation or live-action composition experience is required
  • Must be a team player
