Data Centre Technician

• Responding to and resolving technical tickets in line with client KPIs and SLAs.
• Installing, maintaining, and certifying optical infrastructure, including servers, fibre patching, and network hardware.
• Monitoring system performance and responding swiftly to outages or faults.
• Operating and isolating electrical, cooling, fire, and sprinkler systems (where authorised).
• Supporting day-to-day operations and capacity planning with engineering and IT teams.
• Providing shift cover for colleagues during leave or absence.
• Completing detailed condition assessments, incident reports, and maintenance documentation.
• Ensuring strict adherence to health & safety and quality procedures.
• Overseeing third-party contractor performance and addressing follow-up actions.
• Maintaining accurate infrastructure mapping and site documentation.
• Juggling routine maintenance with ad hoc project-based tasks.

• Recognised trade qualification.
• Ideally 2+ years’ experience as a Data Centre Technician or Electrician.
• Background in mission-critical environments (UPS, BMS, chillers, gensets, electrical testing).
• Strong fibre testing and certification skills, plus experience with optical hardware installs.
• Excellent awareness of health & safety in a maintenance environment.
• Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal.
• Solid documentation and reporting abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Calm, collaborative, and highly responsive in a fast-paced setting.
